Missions

Serving others, in our church...

Our needs as a congregation are diverse. From young families meeting the daily challenges of new parenthood to our infirm and homebound members who are no longer able to attend regular church services. We as a congregation are committed to serving and meeting the needs of our church family. We support each other by volunteering our time and talents.... from volunteering in the nursery to bringing communion and visiting with our homebound in our Homebound Ministry to lifting up the needs of our church members through our Prayer Chain. We are a church family that cares, and cares for each other.

Serving others, in our community...

At Zion, we recognize we are called to share Christ’s love and serve others not only by ministering to them spiritually, but also in reaching out a helping hand in meeting basic daily needs. We are called to support local organizations financially and with our greatest strength, our people! Some of the areas in which we volunteer include:

Serving others, in the world...

We support as a church and individually a variety of global ministries. Several Lutheran organizations you may want to review online are:

Aid is Getting Through in Gaza

As fighting in the Gaza strip continues to escalate, Lutheran World Relief (LWR) is working to deliver much-needed assistance to innocent civilians devastated by the conflict. Delivering aid to the conflict zone is a difficult and costly process. You can help by making a contribution to the LWR Mid-East Crisis fund at Lutheran World Relief, by phone at 800-LWR-LWR-2, or by mail at P.O. Box 17061, Baltimore, MD 21298-9832.

Christian Appalachian Project
Summer 2011

Mission Work Beyond Our Walls...

...We are organizing a team from our church to go to the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky to work with the Christian Appalachian Project, scheduled for the Summer of 2011. You could be part of a team to be sent in, with helping hands and feet, to bring some of those improvements to these very needy people. This would be a wonderful opportunity for adults, youth and families, there are all levels of opportunity to be of help. For more information, or to join Team Zion, contact Fred or Pat Rudy at 301-371-4490, or contact Pastor Kathy at khoffman@zionmiddletown.org, or by phone 301-371-6500.
