Sunday School
Sunday Morning Christian Ed Opportunities: 9:30-10:30 AM
Welcome to Zion's Christian Education program! The Christian Education committee is
one of the standing committees of Zion, addressing discipleship and continued growth in
learning the scriptures. Come attend any of our classes to meet the teachers and join in
faith nurturing activities and discussion. Dedicated teachers are here to help students
learn, explore, and share the Word of God through bible-based instruction focusing on an
in-depth study of all books of the bible. The children's program is based on the Lectionary
reading of the day where learning is enhanced through discussing of the Scripture, story
telling, fun activities, crafts and plays. We also offer a young child/parent class for
infants and toddlers.
Please join us! All are welcome!

God desires a relationship with them and how to develop one. Each winter a retreat is
planned for the Confirmands and the theme will vary from year to year. There is a major
focus for each grade…

how Christ is the fulfillment of them. As they discover that God keeps His promises

families as these young people public announce the desire to make the Baptismal
Promise their own.

and parables, what they mean and how to apply them.
9th Grade Confirmation

The 9th graders put a major emphasis on prayer and the power of it. This power is

Zion Daughters
Zion Daughters Sunday School Class involves women of all ages in discussing scripture
as a guide to their lives. The current lessons are based on the scriptures
read in worship, studying the Women of Faith series.
The class organizes the Fall apple butter making event. Suppers for organizations
and funeral receptions are part of the service activities of Zion Daughters.
Events are held in December and April.
The Men's Bible Class
The Men's Bible Class uses a discussion format to study all parts of the bible, following
a study guide studies of specific books of the bible (i.e. Gospel according to John) and
themes (i.e. prayer). All discussions are scripture-based and include how scriptures affect our daily
lives. The class is lead by three teachers who rotate duties, with members ranging in
age from 16 to 80. Activities include annual dinners held in December and at Easter.
The Men's Bible Class also organizes the fall apple butter event.
Old Testament Class
Working chronologically through the Old Testament in a group-discussion format, the focus of
the class is to gain a greater understanding of God's Word as recorded in the Old Testament and
how scripture points to Christ as the fulfillment of all promises, while also learning about many of the traditions
and symbolism prevalent in Old Testament times. Occasionally, the class may deviate from Old
Testament study and discuss current events or topics from a Christian perspective. The
Old Testament Class shares responsibility for leadership among the members in attendance. The
makeup of the group is diverse in both gender and age, from the twenty-something-year old
to those in their eighties. The class meets in the Library.
Servants of Christ
This adult class is working through a series of books on what it means to be like Christ.
The emphasis is on being a servant with the understanding that we have a mission field right
here in Middletown and the surrounding area. The class picks worthy organizations and seeks
out ways to help this organization bring relief to the hurting community. This class meets
in the Youth house on the northwest corner of the Church property.
